Fathers of Modern Mong Writing

Dr. Smalley Fr. Bertrais Dr. Barney
Picture taken during the RPA Founders' Recognition Banquet held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA in 1997 to officially recognize their contributions to both Hmong Der and Mong Leng for the creation of the RPA writing system in early 1953.  Sadly, they are no longer with us today.
This site is dedicated to Dr. William Smalley, Dr. Linwood Barney, Fr. Yves Bertrais and the many Mong individuals who helped to create and shape the RPA writing script in use by the Mong people throughout the world.  We owe our gratitude and deep appreciation to these founders for without them, our way of sharing thoughts and ideas on paper and computers across the Internet would not have been possible as we know today.

My favorite quote:  "When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us."  Alexander Graham Bell
